WEC Austin – Porsche wins, double heartbreak for Ferrari
The 6 Hours of WEC Austin ends with a triumph for the #6 Porsche of Penske Motorsport, crossing the finish line after 120 laps ahead of one of the fiercest Ferraris on track, the #50. A bitter race instead for the 499P #51 Ferrari, which after leading for a long time, was forced to abandon its hopes of victory due to contact with the winning Porsche itself — a touch that caused a crucial puncture.

An extraordinary performance by Peugeot, which secured its best result since returning to the WEC: P3 for the #94 and P4 for the #93, showing that the French project is finally finding stability and competitiveness. Unfortunately, both Aston Martins were forced to retire after running a solid race near the edge of the top 10 Aston Martin Valkyrie, a great endurance progress
The #51 Ferrari driven by Pierguidi finished in fifth place, followed by the #38 Cadillac, while the #83 Ferrari couldn’t go beyond P7. Further back were the #8 Toyota and the second Penske Porsche, the #5, which was never truly in contention for a podium finish. The decisive moment of the race was the contact between the #51 Ferrari and the #6 Porsche.
The second half of the race saw the track gradually dry out, allowing the cars to fully showcase their performance on slick tyres. The final result therefore accurately reflects the current pecking order in this phase of the championship, with Porsche returning to victory and Ferrari left to analyze a missed opportunity. With this win, Porsche climbs to second place in the constructors’ standings and can now aim to put pressure on Ferrari at the top.
LMGT3 WEC Austin, McLaren #95 wins in dramatic final! Ferrari penalized, Valentino Rossi on the podium
The LMGT3 class at the 6 Hours of Austin was decided in the final moments, with a heart-stopping finish. The Ford Mustang GT3, which had been leading the race, suffered an incredible collapse in the closing minutes, dropping to P7 in class. The #54 Ferrari of Vista AF Corse crossed the finish line first after a remarkable comeback but was handed a 5-second penalty for contact with the #77 Ford of Proton Competition at Turn 11 with less than half an hour to go. A highly debated incident that overturned the final standings.

The celebration goes to the #95 McLaren of United Autosports, which inherits the LMGT3 class win after a consistent and well-executed race, crossing the finish line just 0.256 seconds ahead of the #46 BMW of Team WRT. Driven in part by Valentino Rossi, the WRT car secures a valuable second place. The AF Corse Ferrari 296 drops to P3 due to the penalty but still retains a podium finish.
In the WEC Austin race BMWs showed great pace with the M4 GT3 Evo, with the #31 of The Bend Team finishing P4, followed by the second United Autosports McLaren (#59) in P5. Notably, the fastest lap of the race was set by the McLaren #95 driven by G. Saucy with a 2:09.490, as the track had nearly dried out.
A thrilling race filled with rain, strategy, and dramatic twists—once again proving that the LMGT3 class is delivering top-tier excitement in the 2025 WEC season. Next race, Fuji
