Verstappen ready to join the NLS on 13-14 semptember?

We know it’s bound to happen sooner or later—his love for the GT world has already been proven multiple times. The opportunity to debut at the Nürburgring on September 13–14 is tempting, and some rumors are starting to raise eyebrows.

He already has Emil Frey Racing, a Swiss team, that has collaborated with Verstappen’s Verstappen.com Racing program, primarily in the DTM and GT World Challenge Europe, fielding a Ferrari 296 GT3 driven by Thierry Vermeulen. Verstappen tested with them at the Nürburgring in May 2025, setting an unofficial GT3 lap record under the pseudonym “Franz Hermann.

His passion for racing keeps him glued to the simulator even when he’s not busy with F1 weekends, competing on iRacing against surprised gamers who suddenly find themselves racing Max Verstappen in the lobby. He himself has admitted that the experience of competing virtually against top-tier sim racers helps him in real life, allowing him to consider more variables when it comes to setup and car control in his Red Bull. And from there, his love for a particular category—GT racing—was likely born, ultimately leading him to collaborate with a team racing a Ferrari 296 GT3.

Verstappen, how to obtain the permit to race?

To race in the NLS, Verstappen must obtain a DMSB permit for the Nordschleife, which requires at least two races in a lower class (non-GT3) and 14 incident-free laps. His F1 experience and status as a four-time World Champion might convince the DMSB to grant him an exemption, reducing the requirements or speeding up the process. There has been speculation about a possible special dispensation, though no official confirmation has been given.
