The first race of the DTM Hockenheim ended under the sign of Porsche. More precisely with Thomas Preining and Team Manthey taking the spotlight. The Austrian driver claimed a crucial victory, not only establishing himself as the race’s main protagonist but also securing the constructors’ title for Porsche with one race to spare. On a track made particularly tricky by the weather conditions, Porsche proved the most skillful in managing the challenge. Throughout the entire hour-long race, the weather offered no glimpse of sunlight, forcing all 24 drivers to adopt meticulous driving.

With an impeccable performance, Preining crossed the finish line first after 32 laps on a wet track, stopping the clock at 1:00:53.351. His race pace was consistent and dominant, with a personal best of 1:47.592,a time closely matched by fellow Porsche driver Ayhancan Güven, demonstrating the superiority of the Porsche 911 GT3 R 992 on Germany’s slippery asphalt.

On the podium, Audi’s Land Motorsport team with Ricardo Feller and Morris Schuring’s other Porsche 992 GT3 took second and third, respectively, finishing over 17 seconds behind. A solid performance, yet insufficient to challenge the dominance of the Stuttgart manufacturer.

An excellent fourth place went to Maro Engel in the Mercedes AMG GT3. Ayhancan Güven brought yet another Porsche home in fifth. Only sixth for Englishman Jack Aitken in the striking Ferrari 296 GT3, the same car Verstappen drove at the Nordschleife last weekend. As for BMW, it was a tough race.Only seventh place for René Rast, highlighting a challenging outing for the Bavarian team in race 1 of DTM Hockenheim
