Nürburgring: who spends the most time driving at the Nordschleife

The Nürburgring Nordschleife remains, even in 2025, one of the most beloved and visited destinations for motorsport enthusiasts. The historic circuit, nestled in the Eifel region, offers a unique driving experience with its 20.8 km layout. Those are the so called Touristenfahrten

The German circuit, website which you can find here, has recently compiled an intriguing ranking regarding the origins of its most frequent visitors. Where do the amateur drivers who challenge the “Green Hell” each year come from? Which countries top the list for the most laps completed at the Nürburgring

Top 5 Nurburgring Nordschleife lap rankings

In fifth place is the Netherlands, securing a spot in the top five with 3.6% of the total laps completed. Perhaps the Max Verstappen effect has contributed to a recent surge in interest among Dutch fans to take a “little trip” to the Nürburgring.

Just above is Switzerland, holding fourth place with 4.8% of the laps. The distant German cousins continue to be among Europe’s most passionate, always ready to venture into the Eifel to test their cars.

We find France in third place with 5%, slightly above Switzerland. In second place is the United Kingdom, with a notable 10.9%, demonstrating that passion knows no boundaries, even those of the English Channel.

The British love bringing their high-performance vehicles to the long German circuit, also attracted by the abundance of YouTube content dedicated to the Nordschleife. Many creators produce videos in English to reach an international audience. Among the most notable is Misha Charoudin, a driver and YouTuber known for delivering spectacular performances with cars entrusted to him by private owners.

And in first place? No surprise for the Nordschleife

The country that dominates this Touristenfahrten ranking? Germany!

The Germans, with a significant lead, are the people who have completed the most laps in the Green Hell: a whopping 57.5% of the total.

A passion that, as always, knows no limits. On the Nordschleife, supercars aren’t necessary to have fun: often, entire families embark on the adventure with their station wagons, eager to enjoy every curve of Europe’s most challenging track.

Even on YouTube, videos abound showcasing the variety of vehicles Germans take to the track: vans, old timers, classics, supercars, and even tourist buses. Some even opt for rental cars, available directly near the circuit, just to experience it firsthand.

And as every year, the legendary 24 Hours of Nürburgring helps keep this passion alive: an event capable of attracting crowds comparable to those of a Formula 1 weekend, transforming the circuit into a true celebration of German motorsport.
