Lamborghini Huracan: last dance in GT series
End of an era?
The Lamborghini Temerario is set to replace a car that, for years, has been a true contender in both sprint and endurance Gran Turismo racing: the Lamborghini Huracán. The iconic naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine, which thrilled fans with its spine-tingling howl at full throttle on circuits around the world, will now be retired. It was one of the last remaining GT cars to still use a naturally aspirated engine. Yet another high-revving masterpiece forced to hang up its pistons and make way for advancing Italian technology—the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.

Since its debut in motorsport, the Huracán—born in Sant’Agata Bolognese—has racked up a long list of victories. The Lamborghini Huracán made a major impact in the GT racing world, standing out in both international GT3 championships and the one-make Super Trofeo series. Let’s take a look back at its remarkable journey.

Huracan’s GT3
Do you think this model had an easy life? Well, if you do, you’re seriously mistaken — over the years, it had to go head-to-head with fierce rivals like the Ferrari 488, the Mercedes-AMG GT, the BMW M6 GT3, and in America, the much more powerful M8.

🏁 Super Trofeo Lamborghini Championschip

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is a one-make series held across different regions, where Trofeo versions compete—cars that are slightly closer to their road-going counterparts compared to their GT World Championship siblings. They generally record lap times a few seconds slower due to less advanced aerodynamics, but they make up for it with more horsepower thanks to more permissive air restrictors and intake flanges. What most affects performance, however, is the setup, which is much less customizable and closer to that of the everyday Huracán.
- Europe (since 2009)
- Asia (since 2012)
- North America (since 2013)
- Middle East (2017–2019, resumed in 2022)
- Each season culminates with the World Final, where the best drivers from the continental series compete for the global title.
L’evoluzione del modello Huracan
- Huracán GT3 Evo: Introduced in 2019, it brought aerodynamic and mechanical improvements over the original version.
- GT3 Evo 2: Debuted in 2023, featuring further updates to maintain competitiveness in GT3 championships.
- Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2: Since 2022, it has been the sole car used in the Super Trofeo series, with optimized design and aerodynamics.
