Kimi Antonelli confirmed in F1 for 2026

Kimi Antonelli ahead of the Singapore Gp has been in the spotlight following statements from F1 Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff regarding 2026. The Austrian entrepreneur made it clear that the team has great expectations for the young Italian talent, confirming him as a key driver for next year as well. Antonelli will therefore be one of the two main drivers for the Stuttgart-based team, alongside the more experienced George Russell. Rumors linking Kimi Antonelli to a possible move to Alpine or Williams are therefore unfounded. Toto Wolff himself emphasized the strong bond between Mercedes and the young Italian talent. “We want to make it clear that we never intended to associate Kimi Antonelli’s name with rival teams.” A choice that, in light of the results, seems to be paying off. The Antonelli–Russell duo, Mercedes currently sits in second place in the Constructors’ Championship with 290 points, having overtaken Ferrari by 4 points thanks to an excellent performance in Azerbaijan, also aided by a disappointing race from the Maranello team.

When analyzing individual performances, however, a gap becomes clear: George Russell has collected 212 points, while Kimi Antonelli has stopped at 78. It must be remembered, though, that this is the young Italian’s debut season in the top category. His growth path must be allowed to develop with flexibility and without excessive pressure. Even so, Antonelli has already delivered some special moments, such as his podium finish in Canada, a memorable race where Russell stunned everyone with an unexpected victory against McLarens and Red Bull.
