Daniel Ricciardo is returning in Motorsport with Ford

A recent social media post has reignited hopes of seeing the talented Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo back. In action in a new racing series, perhaps even the WEC.

We’ve seen him race in F1 against some of the greatest, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and Max Verstappen, and many times Daniel Ricciardo proved he could match their pace. Even when things didn’t go his way, he was a driver who never losted his smile. His love for motorsport took him far, starting from his homeland, Australia.

He began karting at the age of 9, supported by his family who, despite not being wealthy, did everything they could to help his career. Daniel’s talent was clear early on, and in 2005 he moved up to Australian Formula Ford. In 2007, he relocated to Europe and debuted in Formula Renault 2.0 with backing from Red Bull — a brand just beginning to make its mark in motorsport. He won the championship the following year, in 2008.

More victories followed in the Formula 3 Euro Series and Formula Renault 3.5. In 2010, Ricciardo was chosen as a test driver for Red Bull and Toro Rosso, and in 2011, he made his F1 debut with HRT. He moved to Toro Rosso and in 2014, he was promoted to Red Bull, where he famously outperformed his teammate Sebastian Vettel in his debut season

With his cheerful, upbeat personality, Ricciardo earned the nickname “Honey Badger,” a symbol of his fearless and tenacious driving style.

Daniel Ricciardo, ritorno nel WEC con Ford Racing?

The post shared a few days ago has sparked plenty of speculation. It coincides with Ford’s announcement of rebranding its “Ford Performance” division into “Ford Racing,” marking a renewed commitment to motorsport — including a return to Formula 1 as Red Bull’s engine partner starting in 2026.

Some theories suggest that Ricciardo could be involved in Ford’s programs outside of F1, such as NASCAR or endurance racing events like the WEC (https://sportchaos.live/wec-bop-is-austin-favorable-for-outsiders/) where Ford has a strong presence with its Mustang GTLM. The American manufacturer might see Ricciardo as a valuable asset — a driver with both experience and charisma.

We’re eagerly waiting for further confirmation and can’t wait to celebrate that beloved smile wrapped in the Australian flag once again.
