Ferrari wont update the F1 2025 this season

With the season now past its halfway point, the various F1 teams are having to contend with the FIA-imposed budget cap for further developments. Today’s news concerns Ferrari, which has reportedly decided not to introduce any more upgrades for the remaining races of the 2025 season, opting instead to make the most of the current car as it stands. It won’t be an easy task for Leclerc and Hamilton, given the struggles both drivers have faced this year.

The limited performance shown by the car—perhaps due to a management team that failed to set a clear direction—has led to the cancellation of all further 2025 development plans. The funds saved under the 2025 budget cap will instead be redirected toward other internal Ferrari projects. As is customary, the following year’s car is already in an advanced stage of development. According to The Race, the 2026 challenger is already 70% complete. Further refinements will continue into early next year. Ferrari expected to unveil the new car in the first days of February.

Ferrari has nearly completed its 2026 car.

It’s also worth remembering that 2026 will mark the beginning of a new regulatory era in F1 featuring cars that are slightly less complex in terms of aerodynamics. What could have been a strong opportunity for Ferrari to capitalize on the ground-effect era has ultimately amounted to nothing.

In this final stretch of the season, we’ll likely see only minor aerodynamic tweaks depending on the characteristics of each circuit, with the team continuing to use the parts already developed. The key focus will probably be on consistency, aiming to maintain the gap to Mercedes and Red Bull to secure second place in the Constructors’ Championship, rather than chasing top results—especially with McLaren now dominating.

Will the new era starting next year open the door for a shift in power on the grid?
