Browning Wins Chaotic F2 Monza Feature Race

In the Monza Feature Race, Luke Browning secured his maiden Formula 2 victory with a flawless performance. The Hitech TGR driver converted pole position into a commanding win, finishing ahead of Joshua Duerksen (+3.5s) and Josep Martí (+3.9s), who rounded out the podium after a hard-fought race.

Rafael Villagómez claimed fourth place, followed by Leonardo Fornaroli. He backed up his Sprint Race win with a strong fifth-place finish. Dennis Hauger came home sixth, while Gabriele Minì crossed the line in seventh after a challenging race. Verschoor, Montoya, and John Bennett completed the top 10.

A chaotic start

The race unfolded in rather chaotic fashion, resulting in six retirements over the course of the 30 scheduled laps.
The drama began on lap 8. Alex Dunne was heavily rear-ended by Lindblad heading into the Ascari chicane, sending him into the barriers. Fortunately, Dunne emerged unscathed from the incident. The safety car was deployed to allow marshals to remove the damaged car.

At the restart, Lindblad—still carrying damage to his front wing from the previous contact—collided with an unlucky Stanek, forcing him into retirement.
By lap 14, the safety car was out once again, this time due to Meguetonif losing control under braking at the first chicane.

Curiously, the fastest lap of the Monza feature race was set by Oliver Goethe (1:33.259). The German driver wasn’t able to capitalize on his pace, finishing 16th and a lap down. The home heroes at Monza, Leonardo Fornaroli and Gabriele Minì, wrapped up the F2 Feature Race with solid performances, finishing P5 and P7 respectively. The championship now moves to Baku for Round 12 (September 19–21), where the title fight is expected to heat up even further.
