Barrichello wins Brazialian Nascar at 53 years
After ending his Formula 1 career, Rubens Barrichello has continued to win in other racing categories. In front of his home crowd in Brazil, he was crowned NASCAR Brazil champion, proving once again his enduring talent and passion for motorsport.
Rubens Barrichello had one of the longest and most respected careers in Formula 1, spanning from 1993 to 2011. He made his debut with Jordan and later drove for teams like Stewart, Honda, and Williams, but is best known for his time at Ferrari from 2000 to 2005, where he partnered with Michael Schumacher.

During his Ferrari years, Barrichello played a key role in the team’s dominance, helping secure multiple Constructors’ Championships and earning 11 Grand Prix victories of his own. Though often in a supporting role to Schumacher, Barrichello was widely admired for his speed, consistency, and professionalism. He later became a team leader at Honda and Brawn GP before finishing his F1 career with Williams. With 322 race starts, he held the record for most Grand Prix entries for several years, a testament to his endurance and skill at the highest level of motorsport.

A Hard fight for Rubens Barrichello
Rubens Barrichello’s success came in his debut year in the NASCAR Brazil Series, clinching the title at the sixth round in front of his home crowd. Rubinho’s victory at the wheel of the #91 Ford Mustang for Full Time Sports came after contact with the sister car driven by Thiago Camilo, during an overtake on lap three of the 15-lap race. “Everyone knows how much I love this competition and how fiercely I fight,” Barrichello said. “I feel sorry for Thiago, but there was nothing I could do — I was already on the outside, then I saw he was losing power, and I ended up on the inside.”

We’re friends off the track, but when we close the visors, we fight for our ideals. In the end, the car handled well, and even with Cacá (Bueno, Chevrolet Camaro #0, Team RC) coming strong, I took the win. My heart is in my mouth and I’m very happy.”
Before winning the NASCAR title, Barrichello competed in IndyCar, then in Stock Car racing, and later in endurance events — a clear reflection of his deep passion for motorsport, even after the end of his Formula 1 career.
