New Alfa Romeo Tonale 2026 edition
Alfa Romeo Tonale 2026: The Biscione SUV Gets More Power and Character
The 2026 Alfa Romeo Tonale has been renewed. Three years after its debut, the Biscione brand introduces an updated version of its flagship SUV. Now improved in both design and powertrains, offering more refinement and performance.

Design: A Tribute to the Legendary 33 Stradale
The front end takes inspiration from the iconic Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. It’s one of the most beautiful cars ever created by the brand. Designed by Franco Scaglione and built by Autodelta, the 33 Stradale was produced in only 18 units between 1967 and 1969. Based on the Tipo 33 race car, it featured a 2.0-liter V8 engine producing 230 hp and a tubular H-frame chassis. A masterpiece of Italian engineering that later inspired prototypes like the Carabo and the Iguana.
Alfa Romeo Tonale Style and Interior: Elegance Meets Attention to Detail
Its design blends classic Alfa Romeo heritage with modern proportions, creating a perfect balance between tradition and innovation. The new 19- and 20-inch wheels add structure, presence, and elegance to the overall look. In short, the new Tonale is a true glow-up over its predecessor.
The cabin has also taken a significant leap forward, featuring premium materials, especially on the dashboard, and refined color choices. The ribbed seats, upholstered in red leather or two-tone Alcantara, harmonize with the wrapped dashboard and the gradient-effect ambient lighting

The new gear selector, integrated into the redesigned central tunnel, combines functionality with aesthetic precision, reflecting Alfa Romeo’s dedication to design and craftsmanship.

Driving Dynamics: More Balance and Precision
Dynamics have been fine-tuned by Alfa Romeo engineers through extensive testing at the brand’s Balocco proving ground. The previous version already offered excellent weight distribution, but the new model takes it a step further.
The Dual Stage Valve (FSD) electronic suspension system automatically adjusts stiffness according to road conditions, striking the ideal balance between comfort and control. Brembo braking system with four-piston calipers, brake-by-wire technology, and the Q4 electrified all-wheel-drive setup further enhance stability and precision.

The Alfa DNA selector allows drivers to tailor the car’s personality: Dynamic for responsiveness, Natural for smooth driving, and Advanced Efficiency for optimized electric performance.

Powertrains and Technology
The updated Tonale range complies with the latest Euro 6E-Bis emissions standards. The 175 hp Hybrid version features a 48V mild-hybrid system that boosts efficiency without sacrificing agility. While the 270 hp Plug-In Hybrid Q4 combines strong performance with electrified all-wheel drive. The 130 hp diesel remains in the lineup, ideal for long-distance drivers who value efficiency.
Inside, technology takes center stage: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch Alfa Connect infotainment system offer Over-The-Air updates and full wireless smartphone connectivity.
As for the price, Alfa Romeo has not yet revealed the official figures. The announcement is expected on October 20, when the 2026 Tonale’s pricing will finally be unveiled.

In Uniform: The Tonale Joins Italy’s Law Enforcement Fleet
The new Tonale will soon join the Italian State Police fleet, either replacing or complementing the existing units already in service. Law enforcement agencies rely on the 1.5-liter 160 hp MHEV TCT7 version
The same configuration is also used by the Guardia di Finanza and the Carabinieri, confirming the trust Italian institutions place in the Biscione’s SUV.
