The BMW 2002 Turbo is reborn after 50 years
The historic BMW 2002 Turbo is reborn with a commemorative model, 50 years after the original. With the new Bmw M2, the Bavarian manufacturer brings back some unmistakable lines and features of the iconic car. The famous M stripes, hand-painted, and the manual gearbox are immediately recognizable in this special edition.

Named the BMW M2 Turbo Design Edition 2026, the model features a carbon hood and roof, highlighted by the M lines, defining its distinctive look. The car rolls out of the factory in the classic Alpin Weiss. This edition is celebrating once again the first BMW with a turbocharged engine made available to the European public.
Bmw 6 speed manual gearbox and a lot of power
The M2 Turbo Design Edition comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, compared to the 4 or 5-speed of the original 1970 model. This manual transmission, aimed particularly at the U.S. market, will be a true rarity, given North America’s long-standing preference for automatic gearboxes.

Car enthusiasts will surely appreciate the homage to a model that, at the time, was sold in about 1,650 units. This edition is based on the standard 473 hp model, instead of the 523 hp CS version with an automatic transmission. To put it in perspective, that’s still about three times the power offered by the original 2002 Turbo, which produced only 120 horsepower half a century ago.

For the US market mainly
The Bmw 2002 turbo base price is $84,075, including shipping and handling. Adding the M Driver’s Package for $2,500, carbon bucket seats for $4,500, and Matte Gold Bronze wheels for $6,266, the total comes to around $97,341. Dngerously close to the $99,775 price of the M2 CS.
Bmw Interior elements and Hi-tech equipment
The BMW M2 Turbo Design Edition 2026 impresses even inside, combining luxury and sportiness. Carbon fiber interior trims add a high-tech, dynamic touch. The heated M Alcantara steering wheel ensures maximum comfort in all conditions.
Technology comes standard: the car features wireless device charging, a Live Cockpit Professional, and a Head-Up Display that projects essential information onto the windshield, keeping the focus on driving.
The M sport seats in black Vernasca leather, highlighted with M-colored details, blend ergonomics and style, while the M double-spoke 19/20-inch 930M style wheels in black complete the car’s aggressive and distinctive look. Showcasing the perfect balance between performance and design.
