Verstappen Nurburgring debut, what happened on friday? In Few minutes race 7 will be live, link at the bottom of the page

We had no doubt that Max’s performance on the Nordschleife would be something epic. Yesterday, during his first training day—which allowed him to race today in the GT4 category with the Cayman—he had an intense session behind a certified instructor. He had to complete several laps in his Porsche while following an AMG GT driven by an experienced driver, who showed him the correct racing lines across the 24 km of the Nürburgring. Being a four-time Formula 1 World Champion isn’t enough to get all the required licenses—but we had already told you that.

Verstappen Nurburgring double duty

Max Verstappen has officially passed his exam and now holds Permit B for the Nürburgring Nordschleife. He will share TWO Porsches of Lionspeed GP with Chris Lulham – the No. 89 in SP7 and No. 980 in CUP3 – to get as much track time as possible.

We also learned a very curious detail. In this morning’s qualifying session, in the Cup3 category in which Verstappen is competing, he has 130 horsepower less than the pole-sitter, yet over the 24 km of the track, he’s only 10 seconds slower. For those who know the Ring, most of the circuit is very technical and twisty, so it’s likely that much of that gap comes from the long final straight, which stretches for around 2 km.

Today, Saturday, September 13th, Race 7 of the NLS series will be broadcast at 11:15 AM, with Verstappen taking part after completing yesterday’s practice. Unsurprisingly, a huge number of fans have arrived at the Nürburgring — so much so that an additional 50,000 spectators are expected today alone, just to witness his debut. Organizers are even considering building two extra grandstands to accommodate the massive influx of fans, many of whom are likely traveling from the Netherlands.

We leave you with the link to Race 1. If everything goes smoothly today, he could already take part in Race 2 with the 296 GT3 — and maybe even aim for the win.
