F1 Monza weekend, Ferrari is polished to shine

About 350,000 fans are expected to welcome the circus, especially Ferrari. The new shirt collection celebrates Niki Lauda and his 1975 championship.

F1 Monza: One of the most anticipated annual events has arrived, especially for millions of Italians who passionately follow their favorites Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The chance to see them live in Italy is finally here. After the first Italian race in Imola, it’s now time for Monza, a circuit built inside the beautiful and namesake park in Brianza.

After the Zandvoort round, where the Emilia-based team suffered a double retirement, Ferrari arrives at their home Grand Prix with high hopes. The car will feature significantly reduced aerodynamic downforce compared to the Dutch circuit to tackle the very long straights. It’s worth remembering that this is an event where all teams develop very low-downforce front and rear wings specifically for this track. We had already shared an interesting analysis of some circuit features, which you can check out here. https://sportchaos.live/f1-monza-guide-for-an-incredible-italian-gp/

F1 Monza speed record

The official top speed record in Formula 1 at the Monza circuit is held by Juan Pablo Montoya, who reached 372.6 km/h in 2005 driving his McLaren MP4-20 during the Italian Grand Prix practice sessions. The race top speed record belongs to Kimi Räikkönen, who hit 370.1 km/h the same year, also with McLaren.

As for the highest average lap speed ever recorded in Formula 1, that record is held by Lewis Hamilton, who in 2020 during Italian Grand Prix qualifying completed a lap in 1:18.887 with an average speed of 264.362 km/h.

A total new look

We all know that for big occasions, dressing appropriately is a must. Ferrari excels at celebrating such events, backed by decades of rich history to showcase. Just yesterday, Ferrari unveiled a special new kit featuring a blue shirt, paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s first World Championship title in 1975. The design echoes the iconic Ferrari 312T, with white details and a vintage touch.

Besides the shirt, the collection also includes a matching cap and jacket. This choice marks a return to blue—a color Ferrari has used on special occasions—and celebrates the team’s historical roots.

Now the question is, will the livery match as well? It’s a simple one, considering Ferrari’s main sponsor HP pairs well with blue. Most likely, the livery will reflect this new shirt design without changing the current colors on the SF-25.
